Trends in SmartGrids: hunting fraud in electrical energy consumers with FRAUDY
| | | | | |

Publicado el 29 de Abril de 2016

DIgSILENT Ibérica has developed a system to detect undeclared consumption in LV feeders.

FRAUDY is an AUTOMATIC FRAUD DETECTION SYSTEM based on a comparison between load flow calculations performed with DIgSILENT PowerFactory and measurements at the MV/LV substation. The system is built as a state estimator:

  • DIgSILENT PowerFactory takes measurements from SMARTMETERS at LV customer locations and executes a load-flow sweep every day.
  • The load-flow results are compared to measurements taken at the MV/LV substation.
  • When deviations between MV measurements and load-flow calculations are observed, the load-flow sweep results are compared to the results of the same load-flows but using the statistical model of the loads (daily characteristics according to model).
  • The energy difference between model and measurements over a time period can then be used as an indicator of “undeclared” consumers in an LV feeder.

FRAUDY is developed as an application example, inspired on the work presented in FIRST USE OF SMART GRID DATA IN DISTRIBUTION NETWORK PLANNING.
