The CIGRE B4.72 Kick-off meeting is taking place in Aberdeen, UK, on the 7th-8th April 2016. The meeting is hosted by the University of Aberdeen, at the Sir Duncan Rice Library and Fraser Noble Building.

The objective of this Working Group is to establish HVDC grid benchmark models to cover most different HVDC grid applications for different types of studies, based on the output of B4-52, B4-57, B4-58 and B4-59, and other test models. Both VSC and LCC HVDC grids will be considered, and the possibility and limitations for a LCC HVDC grid will be addressed. The terms of reference can be checked here.

The scope of the kick-off meeting is to introduce members, introduce the working group, review contributions and assign some tasks to members, to be able to release a technical brochure (TB) in a short future, entitled "DC grid benchmark models for system studies". DIgSILENT Ibérica will work on the development of benchmark models to support HVDC industry and researchers.

Dr. Ting An from the Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute (GEIRI), a high-end research unit directly governed by State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), is the convener of the working group. The team dinner was offered by the GEIRI in the Yangtz River Chinese Restaurant, where we could taste a very good special chinese meal. We would like to acknowledge all the efforts to organize and host the meeting, thanks!
